Swiss deputies call on Turkey to release HDP politicians

Swiss political parties and civil society organizations called for the immediate release of the elected representatives of the HDP and condemned the political genocide attacks targeting the party as well as socialist elected officials.

A rally was held under the leadership of the Swiss political parties and civil society organizations to protest the political genocide attacks launched by the AKP-MHP government and targeting the HDP which started on September 24.

The action, which was attended by representatives of Swiss parties and institutions, including Greens, Solidarite, POP, SP, started with a moment of silence for the martyrs of the world revolutionary struggle and freedom struggle.

The press statement prepared for the action called for the immediate release of the elected representatives of the HDP and condemned the political genocide attacks targeting the party as well as socialist elected officials. The statement was signed by Swiss National and Canton MPs.

SP National Parliament Deputy Stéfanie Prezioso and Solidarite Geneva Canton Deputy Jean Batou spoke at the action, in which banners reading "Stop Erdogan fascism", "HDP is the will of 6 million people", "Garo Paylan and all political prisoners are not alone" could be read. The Swiss deputies confirmed their solidarity with the Kurdish people.

Stéfanie Prezioso stated her solidarity with the HDP against the political genocide attacks launched by the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan himself.

Prezioso said: "The Kurdish people in Turkey demand respect for fundamental freedoms and democratic rights. We side with Kurds in their demand for peace and dialogue. The HDP in the latest elections has got the 11% of the votes representing the will of millions. We demand the immediate release of the politicians detained.”
