Tez Koop union to go on strike as demands on wage rise not accepted

Tez Koop (Turkey Trade, Cooperative, Education, Office and Fine Arts Workers Union) workers have decided for a strike when Eðitim Sen (Teachers’ Trade Union) central office didn’t approve the collective bargaining demand of workers from nearly 90 branches. When no agreement was reached, 54 workers will go on a strike.

Tez-Koop member workers didn’t settle with employer Türk-Ýþ on the points of wage rise, bonus pay and social rights.

NO AGREEMENT ON WAGE RISE

The main point is the wage rise. When Tez Koop demanded 15 percent wage rise, Eðitim Sen didn’t accept as it has been demanding a wage rise for government officials for years and the rise demand was dropped to 10 percent. However, the central office of the union didn’t approve this rate also and demanded a rise of only 8 percent.

Other points are bonus and social rights. Workers demanded the bonus to be increased from 60 days to 80 days and social rights like “dish and education support” but at the same time Eðitim-Sen didn’t approve these demands.

Tez Koop Work Union is waiting for 60 days legal period to end. If there isn’t an agreement on TÝS (the collective bargaining demand) in this period, union workers will go on a strike.

Türk Ýþ centered Tez Koop Work is getting up in government official unions. Another similar organization is DÝSK (Confederation of Revolutionary Trade Unions) centered Sosyal Ýþ (Social Work Union), which however doesn’t have organization works in government official unions.
