The municipality is promoting music classes for children
The children of poor families in Diyarbakýr districts are meeting music tanks to the work of the Metropolitan Municipality Folk Music Chorus.
With the start of the school holiday, the children in Hasýrlý, Benusen, Yeniköy and Aziziye districts are given music training. 220 children between 09-14 ages get baðlama (traditional Turkish instrument), guitar, erbane (traditional Kurdish percussion instrument), vocal, musical note training. The work, which aims to reveal the musical capability of children and to form a musical basis, is done in laundry houses of the mentioned districts.
Project Coordinator Metropolitan Municipality Folk Music Chorister Ramazan Mayda stated that this application was for the children with inappropriate conditions in these districts as they had given musical training to children with better conditions in Metropolitan Municipality.
EACH CHILD WILL PLAY AN INSTRUMENT
Mayda stated that they will roll up their sleeves, aiming to teach each children to play an instrument. Remarking the decrease in number of children due to the oncoming nut picking season, Mayda pointed out that the project will last at least six months. Medya also added that 40 women in Benusen and Yeniköy districts receive erbane trainig, conveying his thanks to DÝKASUM (Diyarbakýr Research and Application Center of Women Problems) for the locational providing.
Artist Dilek Alparslan describe their aims as “The self expression of children with art”. Remarking that they help children taking place in social life, Alparslan spoke as follows; “Children are awating the lessons impatiently and say ‘Here, everybody has the right to speak and we learn to share and the democracy here’. Moreover, we have a familial communication here, not a teacher-student relationship.”
PICNIC DAY
On the other hand, 50 children progressing in musical training in Benusen District were taken to have a picnic by Benusen Laundry responsible. With various games and singing activities in Yeniþehir Municipality Picnic Area, children had a good time and day.
