Tosun: Paris massacre was an attack on Abdullah Öcalan's philosophy

HDP Amed MP Remziye Tosun, in her interview on the 10th anniversary of the Paris massacre, said: “It was an attack on the ideology of women's liberation.”

With the partnership of Turkish and French intelligence, Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez were murdered on 9 January 2013 in Paris. Mir Perwer, Emine Kara and Abdurrahman Kızıl, who came together at the Ahmet Kaya Kurdish Cultural Center to organize the 10th anniversary events of the massacre, were murdered by an armed attack.

HDP Amed MP Remziye Tosun spoke about Sakine Cansız, one of the founders of the ideology of women's liberation, and her struggle.

Reminding Cansız's struggle 45 years ago, Tosun said that she introduced Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan’s philosophy to the whole world. Tosun stated that Cansız went through all the difficult conditions but continued her struggle.

I was very impressed by Sakine Cansız

Tosun said that Cansız had dedicated hr whole life to the freedom of the Kurdish people and women, and added: "We see where she brought the women's struggle. I would like to say that I am quite impressed with Sakine Cansız myself. The contribution of Kurdish women to the organization is great. Sakine Cansız's red hair has gained historical value all over the world. However, in 2013, she was killed in Paris, which is the city of dreams for everyone but has become the city of pain for the Kurds.”

Emphasizing that women all over the world improved their struggle after Cansız's massacre, Tosun said: "After Sakine Cansız, we see that women won a victory against ISIS in Kobanê. Again, women everywhere have increased their search for their rights. While everyone was fleeing from ISIS, Kurdish women won a great victory by acting on the philosophy of Mr. Öcalan and the practice of Sakine Cansız. Even today, in a country like Iran, women have been on their feet for months. We see that women in Iran are revolting thanks to the gains and awareness created by the Kurdish Women's Movement. So much so that the slogan 'Jin, jiyan, azadi' spread all over the world. It is impossible not to see Sakine in the content of this slogan.”

The values created by Öcalan are targeted

Tosun underlined that 3 other Kurdish activists were murdered in Paris 10 years after Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez, and added: “Three of our friends who were preparing the commemoration events for the massacre of 2013 were murdered. These massacres should be seen as a method of preventing the widespread philosophy of freedom and women. They are attacking all the values created by Mr. Öcalan. They have been attacking Mr. Öcalan's philosophy for the last 50 years. But we hope that 2023 will be a year that will contribute to the end of the isolation on Mr. Öcalan and to the freedom struggle of the Kurds in general.”
