Tributes paid to 14 July Martyrs in many European cities

Tributes to the martyrs of 14 July 1982 were organised in many European cities.

The martyrs of 14 July were commemorated in Berlin, Cologne, Frankfurt, Kassel, Mannheim, Den Haag, Limassol in Cyprus, Linz, Vienna and Graz.

The people who joined the tributes also condemned the Turkish state occupation of South Kurdistan and Rojava and emphasized the importance of unity among Kurds.

COLOGNE

The commemoration at the Democratic Kurdish Community Center in Cologne began with a minute of silence. At the commemoration, representatives of Tevgera Azad, Kurdish Women's Movement, CDK, German Youth Movement and PJAK made speeches about the importance of the July 14 resistance.

Kurdish Women's Movement Activist Nupel Munzur said: ''As a people we have resisted thanks to the spirit of July 14 in Rojava, Sengal, Bakur."

 

CDK representative Kemal Derik took the floor and said: "Our martyrs left a great burden on our shoulders. Kemal Derik said that the July 14 resistance began with six people and reached millions today."

At the commemoration, a video was shown about Diyar Xerib's life. Ali Pazarcık, representative of the German Youth Movement, said, 14 July was "a great moment in our struggle and for our people. In the dungeon of Amed, the regime wanted the struggle to end. A group of young people reversed everything." 

Ibrahim Alipur, the representative of PJAK, commemorated KCK Presidential Council member Diyar Xerib.

BERLIN

At the tribute in Berlin, Free Kurdistan Community co-chair Nujiyan Günay addressed the crowd.

Günay said: “Resistance is heard all over the world and the four parts of Kurdistan and it is based on the 14 July resistance."

İbrahim Özsular made a short speech on behalf of the families of the martyrs. Then Kurdish politician M. Gungor, talked about the 12 September 1980 military coup in Turkey and the struggle in Amed prison.

Gungor said that he was a witness to the experiences of the Kurdish people and his comrades in the process.

Bavê Kawa, PYD Berlin Representative said: "Thanks to this resistance, we are getting stronger in Rojava today."

FRANKFURT

A commemoration event was held in Frankfurt for Diyar Xerib, member of the KCK Presidential Council, who lost his life as a result of a Turkish air raid, on 5 July.

More than a hundred Kurds and their friends from Frankfurt, Offenbach and Hanau joined the tribute, which was led by the Frankfurt martyrs Family Committee and Women's councils.

Delal Dersim made the opening speech after a moment of silence in memory of the martyrs of the Kurdistan Revolution. Dersim, commemorating the July 14 death fasters said: "They are leading us in our struggle at every given moment."

MANNHEIM

A memorial was held at the Kurdish Community Center in Mannheim promoted by the Ronahi Berivan Women's Assembly and the Martyrs Committee. In a speech made on behalf of the Committee of Martyrs, it was underlined how the spirit of 14 July in Kurdistan affected everyone.

KASSEL

The Martyr Families Commission organized the commemoration in Kassel. Speaking at a commemoration held at the Democratic Kurdish Community Center, Kassel People's Assembly Co-Chair Leyla Saroxan said: "We repeat our promise to the martyrs." 

DEN HAAG

A commemoration was held in Den Haag. The commemoration began with a moment of silence after which a video was screened. DemNed Co-chair Engin Yurtsever, commemorated the Great Death Fast insurgents and said that their struggle would be carried to victory.

LIMASSOL

The martyrs of 14 July were also commemorated in Limassol, Cyprus. Kurdish politicians Çerkez Korkmaz and Kamil Akalın made speeches about the meaning of the day.

LINZ

The 14 July tribute took place at the Democratic Community Center. The commemoration also condemned the Turkish state's invasion attacks and the KDP's cooperation with the invaders.

VIENNA

Representatives of the PYD, the Austrian representative of the Goran Movement and the brother and relatives of Diyar Xerib, joined the memorial in Vienna.

GRAZ

In a meeting held at the Center for Democratic Society in Graz the 14 July Martyrs were commemorated.
