Turkish attacks on Northern and Eastern Syria protested in Istanbul

The attacks carried out by the Turkish state on Northern and Eastern Syria were protested in various boroughs of Istanbul. A call was made to end the attacks immediately.

The attacks carried out by the Turkish state on Northern and Eastern Syria were protested with joint press statements held in the boroughs of Avcılar, Sultanbeyli and Arnavutköy in Istanbul. The actions were organized by the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party).

Arnavutköy

The statement that the DEM Party Arnavutköy District Organization wanted to make in front of its building was prevented by the Turkish police, and was then held inside. The statement was read by Sedat Doğan from the DEM Party Istanbul Provincial Organization.

Doğan said that many civilians, including children, have been killed, and many others have been injured in the attacks carried out by the Turkish state on cities in Northern and Eastern Syria since 24 October. "According to the data of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), 27 people, including children, have lost their lives, nearly 40 people have been injured, and civilian houses and infrastructure have been damaged. We offer our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in these inhumane attacks that disregard international law and wish a speedy recovery to the injured.

If the massacres of civilians carried out during a period when internal peace discourses are put forward by the ruling authorities and their partners are not an indication of insistence on war and violence, what are they?"

Emphasizing that a solution to the Kurdish issue cannot be achieved by bombing the houses and infrastructure of the Kurdish people, Doğan added that they will not remain silent against these attacks. "With these policies, the AKP government targets the gains that all the peoples of the region, Kurds, Arabs, and Assyrians, have achieved at great cost, and the equal, democratic, and free coexistence of all peoples. We say no to any policy that ignores the peaceful living of the peoples in the lands of Northern and Eastern Syria.

The attacks carried out from Palestine to Rojava are deepening the instability in the Middle East. Those who attack the peoples of Rojava under various pretexts should know that we will never remain silent against the transformation of these lands into a war zone, the trampling on international law and crimes against humanity."

Sultanbeyli

Many party members attended the press release held at the DEM Party Sultanbeyli District Organization building. The press release was read by DEM Party Sultanbeyli district co-chair Hacı Erbek.

Avcilar

In Avcılar, the press statement held at the DEM Party District Organization building protested the attacks carried out by the Turkish state and called on the public to take a common stance against them.
