Two Spanish women nationals married to two Islamic State jihadists and repatriated this week from Syria with the 13 children in their care, gave a statement on Wednesday before the judge of the National Court, Santiago Pedraz, who has ordered prison without bail for the two women. The Prosecutor's Office had requested this measure and accused them of being members of a terrorist group.

The two women were repatriated this week along with the children they were caring for, nine of them their biological children. The Public Ministry also requested the withdrawal of parental authority over minors.

The two women landed at the Torrejón de Ardoz military base (Madrid) last Monday from Northern Syria, where the Islamic State had been installed and after its defeat in Baghouz, the last stronghold of the organization.

The two women and the 13 children they were in charge of were held in the facilities run by the Autonomous Administration. They expressed their wish was to return to Spain, despite knowing that they would have to be tried. The repatriation required intense diplomatic activity that began four years ago.
