The Turkish AKP government fails to manage its so called 'Kurdish Opening', said Carol Migdalovitz in her report presented to the US Congress on 13 August.
Just before the constitutional referendum of 12 September Middle East expert Migdalovitz wrote that the government initiated an unprecedented Kurdish opening, but managed it poorly, produced unfulfilled expectations. She also added that AKP has failed to deal comprehensively with a significant domestic group struggle for recognition of its ethnic identity the Kurds in a majority Turkish state, added.
The report also states that the AKP leader Erdogan is not genuine and fails to start dialog with the pro-Kurdish BDP, mostly due to influence of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP).
Report also criticizes the Turkish PM Erdogan for not implementing any concrete changes in terms of linguistic rights. Erdogan rather increases the military precautions against the PKK guerrillas and the government steps are unlikely to satisfy the Kurdish demands, added in the report.
The reports also indicated that PKK is not targeting civilians.
