Democratic Free Women's Movement (DÖKH) organized a march in Van to condemn the massacre of the Kurdish people in Rojava by al-Qaeda linked gang groups ISIS (the Islamic State of Iraq and Sham) and al-Nusra Front.
The march in solidarity with the people of Rojava was joined by hundreds of people chanting the slogan “Everywhere Rojava, everywhere resistance”. The banners they carried read “The attitude towards Rojava is the attitude towards the Kurdish question”.
The march was followed by a press conference at Feqiye Teyran park. The press conference was joined by a number of people including Mayor of Van Bekir Kaya and BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) Van provincial chair Musa Itah.
Reading the press statement here, BDP Van provincial co-chair Figen Yaşar pointed out that the ruling AKP government intended to prevent the Rojava revolution by organizing the al-Nusra Front and having its militants massacre the Kurdish people there.
Yaşar strongly criticized Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his ministers for crying for the people massacred in Damascus while remaining silent about the brutality of gang groups raping women and massacring youths in Rojava. Yaşar urged the government to change its policy against Kurds.
"The resistance in Rojava is the resistance of the Kurdish people. We will continue taking to the streets and chanting the slogan “Everywhere Rojava, everywhere resistance” in response to all powers that are making plans on Rojava”, she added.
