Italian internationalist Tekoşer Piling (Lorenzo Orsetti) fell as a martyr on 18 March 2019 during the Baghouz Campaign, the last battle in the war against ISIS. The internationalist was commemorated with an event held in Bern, Switzerland.

Orsetti's family members were among the participants of the commemoration held at the Kurdish Cultural Association in Bern, which was covered with photos of Orsetti and Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Speaking at the event which began with a minute of silence, Saadet Kuran in the name of KOMAW (Association of Relatives of the Martyrs and Disappeared) said that Kurds were proud of the internationalists who contributed to the struggle in Kurdistan.

Tekoşer Piling's father, Alessandro Orsetti, stressed that the struggle, in which his son fell as a martyr, would grow, putting emphasis on the importance of joint struggle against fascism.

Italian internationalist Lorenzo ‘Orso’ Orsetti (Tekoşer Piling) joined the ranks of Rojava’s defence forces from Italy in 2017. As an internationalist revolutionary, he took an active part in the struggle for freedom for a long time.

Tekoşer Piling took his place in the internationalist units within the YPG at the forefront of the resistance against Turkey’s invasion of Afrin. He played a significant role in the struggle for freedom, enduring all conditions with great determination.

He also fought with great sacrifice and determination in the Jazira Storm campaign to oust ISIS from its final enclave in Deir ez-Zor. He played an active role in the TKP/ML-TİKKO international units during his time in the region, with a principled and determined stance that embodied the universal values of socialism.

Tekoşer, who led an exemplary life through his devotion to the revolution, was martyred on March 18th during a conflict as part of operations against the last area occupied by ISIS.

Lorenzo was laid to rest on 24 June in his hometown, Florence, in 2019.
