PYD co-chair: Turkish threats target the future of Syrian peoples

PYD co-chair Shahoz Hesen said that Erdoğan is afraid of the end of DAESH.

PYD co-chair Shahoz Hesen spoke to ANHA about the threats of occupation in Northern and Eastern Syria made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on 12 December and said “international powers are responsible for the situation in Northern and Eastern Syria.”

“Turkish state targets the Democratic Nation project in the region”

Shahoz Hesen, who stated that the Turkish state has been threatening the peoples since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, added: “The Turkish state attacked Northern and Eastern Syria primarily through the mercenaries. Now it is threatening to hit the areas liberated by the Syrian Democratic Forces. The aim is to eliminate the Kurdish people, to massacre the peoples of the region and to occupy the region. These aims were seen in Serêkaniyê, Kobanê and Afrin. The Kurdish people in Rojava carried out a major struggle for the Democratic Nation system. This system has now turned into a real alternative solution to the Syrian crisis. In the democratic nation system, the hopes of all peoples are answered. And this is precisely why the occupying Turkish state is targeting the Democratic Nation project.”

“The end of ISIS scares Erdoğan”

Shahoz Hesen added: “DAESH mercenaries are nearing the end in Hajin. Erdoğan is afraid of the end of DAESH.”

Hesen drew attention to the AKP-MHP fascist alliance: “The attack on Afrin was carried out after the alliance was forged. They want their fascist and racist policies to continue until the 31 March local elections. Turkey’s political paralysis and economic crisis continues. Erdoğan hopes to win the elections through threats."

Shahoz Hesen stated that the struggle of the Democratic Nation, led by the peoples of the Northern and Eastern Syria, has actually frustrated the plans of the Turkish state for Syria.

“The aim of the Turkish state is to eliminate the Democratic Nation project - said Hesen - and this is in accordance with the Syrian regime's plans. The Syrian regime wants sovereignty in the liberated areas. This means a dark future. The democratic forces of Syria must be careful and struggle against the plans of the Turkish state. Thus, the threats of attack will be thwarted, and the Democratic Nation project will continue to flourish allowing the construction of a truly democratic Syria. These threats are targeting Syria's future and all the peoples of Syria.”
