The annual meeting of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria has kicked off in Raqqa on Monday.
The meeting at the Culture and Art Center was attended by Syrian Democratic Council (MSD) Co-chair Ilham Ehmed, members of the Executive Board of North and East Syria, executives and representatives of the Autonomous Administration.
Following a minute’s silence, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria Executive Council Co-president Abd Hamid al-Mihbas read the topics to be discussed on the first day of the meeting.
During the session discussing the political developments in the region, attendees criticized the worldwide silence on Turkish invasion of North and East Syria.
The attendees remarked that a section of Syrian peoples was not included in the Constitutional Committee and that this denial deepened the Syrian crisis even further.
The participants also pointed out the talks between the Autonomous Administration and the Syrian regime, noting that the talks achieved no results because the regime insisted on its old mentality. They indicated internal dialogue for the solution of the Syrian crisis.
Speaking at the meeting, MSD co-chair Ilham Ehmed said the following; “When the invading Turkish state attacked us, many thought that the Autonomous Administration and the SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) would be dissolved. The developments, however, proved the contrary. The Autonomous Administration and the SDF have proven their potential and this had a positive impact on our relations in the international arena.”
Remarking that the Turkish state targeted the Autonomous Administration in particular, Ehmed continued; “The Autonomous Administration has the potential to lead a democratic change in Syria. For this very reason, the Turkish state has attacked many times to reach the Autonomous Administration headquarters in Ain Issa.”
The speeches were followed by an evaluation of the Autonomous Administration’s works in 2019 and presentation of the works for the new year.
The meeting will continue tomorrow with an assessment of the new projects.
