Children of Dirbêsiyê: We want to go back to school

Children in Dirbêsiyê are among the victims of the Turkish state occupation attacks. They say that they cannot go to school and miss the life they had before the occupation carried out by Turkey and hope to return to their villages.

Children are among the victims of the occupation carried out by the Turkish state in Rojava.

Children become direct targets of the attacks, and are denied access to their fundamental rights. Hundreds of civilians, including dozens of children, were killed in the invasion attacks that began on October 9.

White phosphorus and banned weapons have been allegedly used by Turkey and many children were seriously injured in the attacks.

The children of Dirbêsiyê are aware and suffered on their own skin all these atrocities. They all have a word to say. They're all victims of the invasion, and they're all willing to speak about this. This new generation recognized the Turkish state for its brutality.

Mirna is a little girl. Her face is still smiling. Her green eyes shine. "We want to return to our school," she says, while expressing the anxiety and fear of the attacks carried out by the Turkish state.

"The Turks have entered here, we are afraid", Mirna said and describes her longing for her life prior to the occupation. "I want to go back to school, we want our neighbors to come back and get back together to our life as it was before" says Mirna.

Mirna knows about the illegal weapons used in Serêkaniyê, she saw the picture of the children hit and their burned bodies. She has one question: "Is the heart of people not burning?"

HOPE TO RETURN TO OUR VILLAGES AGAIN

Four other children are saying "Erdogan slaughter children". One makes the victory sign. Then another says: "What did the people of Serêkaniyê do to Erdogan for him to kill children?"

Another girl from Dirbêsiyê says that her name is Guli and that Serêkaniyê is occupied and children are deprived of education. Guli adds that she could not continue her school. "They threw phosphorus to Serêkaniyê, they slaughtered the children" she says adding that she hopes to go back to school.
