Reports are coming through of clashes between the jihadist militias Ahrar al-Sharqiya and Jabhat al-Shamiya in the northern Syrian city of Girê Spî (TallAbyad). According to available information, the fighting broke out on Sunday due to differences over control at the city entrances. It is still unclear whether there are dead or injured.
In the meantime, all entrances and exits to and from Girê Spî have been sealed off. The remaining civilian population, who are now cut off from the outside world, is suffering.
Since Russia and the US gave green light to Turkey's occupation of Girê Spî last October, a large part of the city has been controlled by Ahrar al-Sharqiya, the militia that executed Kurdish politician Hevrîn Klalaf. There are repeated conflicts with other jihadist groups that are also part of the mercenary alliance SNA (Syrian National Army) - allies of NATO partner Turkey.
