Clashes between Turkish-backed proxies in Til Temir

In the west of Til Temir in northern Syria, fighting broke out between groups of Turkish-backed jihadists.

On Saturday evening, fighting broke out between rival jihadist groups in the Turkish occupation zone in the west of Til Temir. In the occupied villages of Dawudiya and Erisha, fighting took place between militiamen of the Sultan Murad Brigade and Furqat al-Hamza.

No information is available about the current cause of the fighting. The occupied territories in northern Syria are de facto linked to the Turkish administration by provincial governors and are dominated by jihadist mercenaries of Turkey. These groups consist largely of the remnants of the ISIS, the former Al-Nusra front, but also of Ü jihadist militias such as Ahrar al-Sham or Faylaq al-Sham. Among them there are regular fights over looting, territory or plunder. These conflicts have intensified in recent weeks.
