In northeastern Syria, thousands of people took to the streets today for the international day of action #RiseUpAgainstIsolation, to emphasize the demand for freedom for Abdullah Öcalan and the lifting of the isolation on the Turkish prison island Imrali. October 9th was the anniversary of the beginning of the international conspiracy against the Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan, who 22 years ago had to leave Syria due to international pressure by Turkey and NATO and who set out on an odyssey across Europe for a peace process, which finally led to his internationally coordinated deportation from the Greek embassy in Nairobi to Turkey. On the occasion of the beginning of the "international conspiracy" against the PKK founder, Kurdish organizations had called for the decentralized day of action, which is also directed against the occupation attacks of Turkey in Rojava.
Qamishlo
In addition to numerous residents of the city, representatives of the autonomous authorities also took part in a demonstration in Qamishlo. The march started at the central junction Munir Habib and led loudly under a yellow sea of flags with the portrait of Abdullah Öcalan to the seat of the UN representation. At a final rally, speeches sharply condemned international ignorance of the isolation and torture system at Imrali. In addition, international human rights organizations have been criticized for their inaction with regard to the dramatic situation of hundreds of thousands of displaced persons who, as a result of the Turkish invasion, are still forced to stay in emergency shelters and tents. In addition to the United Nations, the international public has also been called upon to raise its voice against the Turkish state's occupation policy and war crimes against the civilian population.
