General Coordinator of the Syrian Revolutionary Left Movement, Dr. Ghayath Naisse, spoke to ANF about the ongoing invasion attacks of the Turkish state in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) and its repercussions in the Arab world.

Dr. Ghayath Naisse remarked that the Turkish invasion attacks are a source of concern for the entire region. “We must manifest our stance, unity, alliance and the struggle of the Kurdish-Arab people against all invaders. This is our strategic goal. We must keep doing this until we win,” he said.

“When evaluated legally, politically and morally, the Turkish attacks are unjust and illegitimate. By taking advantage of the current situation in the world and in the region, Turkey wants to break the will of the Kurdish people who demand freedom. These attacks are not only directed against the Kurds. The Turkish state entered Syrian territory and opposes the gains and interests of the Arab people in Syria. They have also occupied Iraqi lands where various population groups live," he said.

IRAQI AND SYRIAN PARTIES MUST OPPOSE

Dr. Naisse called on other parties in Iraq and Syria to fight against these invasion attacks, saying, “It is not possible to remain silent towards this attack and hostility. We must all defy it, no matter what political ideas we hold.”

THE WEAK ATTITUDE OF THE ARAB WORLD

Dr. Naisse pointed out that the Arab world is indifferent to the situation in the region, as can also be seen in the Arab League. “Although some Arab countries, such as Egypt, are involved in some pursuits, the role and regional system of the Arab League is very weak recently. Other countries must stand up against the Turkish state and protect their interests. This indifference of the leaders in the Arab League allows the Turkish state to achieve its goal. Iraq, a member of the Arab League, also has a weak stance on this issue. It does not favour the interests of its citizens; it cannot protect its lands and borders."

TURKEY IS AN OCCUPYING STATE IN SYRIA

“The Turkish state continues to invade other parts of Syria. It gets support from those who attempt to enter Syrian territory for occupation. They have bilateral agreements, they act together. Why does the US do nothing against the bombing and killing of civilians by Turkish killer drones in Iraq and South Kurdistan while maintaining its military presence in Iraq and Syria? There are great interests behind the silence toward all those happening in the region. Foreign powers have nothing to do for the people of the region.”

OUR WEAPON IS OUR UNITY

Dr. Naisse emphasized that attacks can only be repelled through the unity of the peoples. “We have neither support nor friends apart from our people. We live together as Kurds and Arabs. No government has supported us. Our only support comes from free democratic forces. We should be brave against all invaders. We must manifest our stance, unity, alliance and the struggle of the Kurdish-Arab people against all invaders. This is our strategic goal. We have to keep doing this until we win.”

PKK PROTECTS ENTIRE REGION

Dr. Naisse expressed his support for the PKK, which -he said- protects the people of the region. “As an Arab and a socialist, I support the PKK. This party protects the Kurdish people and the peoples of the region. I urge Arab leftists, democrats and libertarians to show the same attitude and support this party,” he said.

“The Arab people should reject the brutal practices against the Kurds and all the peoples of the region. Arab society should also be courageous. We should stand by the Kurdish people and freedom,” he concluded.
