In a press statement, the Euphrates Canton Autonomous Administration spoke about the Turkish state’s attacks, the ongoing threats against Kobanê, and broader developments in Syria.
The Kurdish version of the statement was read by Egîd Nasiro, a lecturer in Kurdish Language and Literature, while the Arabic version was delivered by Leyla Ehmed, a PYD official.
The statement said: "We remain fully committed to dialogue as a means to achieve lasting solutions to the ongoing crises, ensuring that the peoples of Syria can live together in freedom and security. The Euphrates Canton Autonomous Administration, alongside its parties and institutions, reiterate its readiness to engage in any constructive solution."
The statement added: "In recent days, the relentless attacks on Northern and Eastern Syria, as well as other Syrian territories, have continued. The occupying Turkish state, in particular, has carried out inhumane assaults against our people in Shehba and Manbij, resulting in the brutal deaths of numerous women, children, and elderly civilians. These atrocities have unfolded before the eyes of the entire world. Our people have suffered horrific acts such as beheadings, burning, torture, and other barbaric crimes. In response, the fighters of the SDF, YPJ, and the local military councils have mounted a heroic and unyielding resistance against the invaders."
The statement continued: "The Turkish state has used airstrikes, drones, and advanced technology to support its mercenaries, unleashing ruthless attacks on the people of the region. As a result, our people in Shehba, Manbij, Ain Issa, and the rural areas around Kobanê have been subjected to massacres.
It is clear that the Turkish state’s goal is the annihilation of the peoples of this region. Its attempts to occupy Rojava are part of this genocidal vision. Its persistent hostility toward the Autonomous Administration stems from this very purpose. Just as the 19 July People’s Revolution began in Kobanê, the fascist Erdoğan unleashed ISIS mercenaries to attack the city. After their defeat, Erdoğan has repeatedly issued threats against Kobanê because the city remains a symbol of their failure."
The statement underlined that "today, Kobanê faces grave danger and threats. In this context, the global community must not forget how ISIS mercenaries were decisively defeated in Kobanê by the city’s fighters, bringing hope and relief to humanity. This achievement is owed to the people of Kobanê and its defenders. Now is the time to stand with Kobanê."
The Euphrates Canton Autonomous Administration called "upon all democratic and freedom-loving individuals and organizations around the world, the international coalition, and the international community to support Kobanê and defend the dignity of humanity that it represents."
