At least seven people have died in a violent explosion in the Turkish-occupied northern Syrian city of Azaz.
According to local sources, at least seven people died in a massive explosion in the Turkish occupied zone of Azaz in northern Syria. Another 20 people were injured, some of them seriously.
What triggered the detonation in the immediate vicinity of the seat of the so-called "Justice Council" of the occupying forces is still unclear.
The sound and vibration, which could be heard for miles around, startled residents in the late afternoon, and several houses and shops in the vicinity were damaged. In addition, numerous vehicles caught fire and burned out completely.
Azaz is located about 50 kilometers north of the city of Aleppo and seven kilometers south of the Turkish border. The city, with a population of around 70,000, has been occupied by the Turkish army and its jihadist allies since 23 August 2016. Repeated attacks are carried out there. In particular, the groups "Afrin Liberation Forces" (Hêzên Rizgariya Efrînê, HRE) and the "Wrath of the Olive Operation Centre” carry out continuous "retaliatory strikes" against the invading forces in the Turkish occupation zones.
