Farewell to 16-year-old killed by Turkish attack in Afrin

Farewell to a minor who was martyred in a Turkish attack on the village of Tinib in Sherawa.

The people of Afrin bid farewell to Eseed Mihamîd who was martyred in an attack by the invading Turkish state against the village of Tinib in Afrin’s Sherawa district yesterday, December 25.

The artillery attack by Turkish forces on Sunday claimed the life of 16-year-old Eseed Mihamîd while leaving Xalid Şêx Taha (16) and Ehmed Mihamîd (18) injured.

A ceremony was held for the slain child in front of the Avrin Hospital in the Fafîn district of the Shehba canton. The boy will be buried in the village of Tinib.

Speaking on behalf of the Assembly of Martyrs' Families, Nedêr Mislêm condemned the attacks of the invading Turkish state on the region and offered their condolences to the family of Eseed Mihemed.

Speaking on behalf of the Sherewa district administration, Wehîd Hemîdo said that the invading Turkish state is constantly shelling the region and targeting children.

According to statistics from the Rojava-based news agency ANHA, at least eight civilians and five fighters from the Afrin Liberation Forces (HRE) were killed in Turkish attacks on Afrin and Shehba in 2022. Most of the civilian casualties were displaced people from Afrin, which was occupied in 2018. During the same period, 46 civilians were injured in attacks originating from Turkey or Turkish occupied areas. In addition, 28 Syrian Army soldiers were killed and 35 soldiers were wounded in the attacks. ANHA reports a total of 13 Turkish drone attacks in the region, while three drones were shot down. Over the course of the year, around 27,500 artillery shells from the Turkish army and its jihadist mercenary forces have hit the area around Afrin and Shehba.
