Two brothers in the YPG continue their resistance against ISIS in the frontlines to avenge their two brothers.
Cotkar and Berxwedan from the Mihemed Şerîf Hemo family in Heseke are fighting for the YPG. When the Rojava Revolution started 6 sons of the family, Şerîf, Nûredîn, Zagros, Hisên, Cotkar and Berxwedan left their home in the face of attacks and took their place in the ranks of the resistance. They participated in Shedadê, Hol, Til Hemîs, Serêkaniyê, Manbij and Sirîn liberation operations.
Şerîf and Nûredîn were martyred during the 4th phase of the operation to liberate Raqqa. Berxwedan and Cotkar are now following their path, fighting in the frontlines in Raqqa against ISIS to avenge their brothers and free the people of Raqqa.
Cotkar said his head stands tall because he is following the path of the martyrs and continued: “I joined the YPG to avenge all martyrs. Our goal is to build a common life in the region.”
Cotkar said both his brothers were martyred to protect their people and added: “We will follow our brothers and give our lives to save our people from terrorism.”
Manning the DHsK gun next to his brother, Berxwedan said the peoples of the region have been living under the tyranny of the hegemonic systems and continued: “With the start of the Rojava revolution, we defeated the fragmentation policies of the Baath regime among the peoples of the region. Instead, now everyone can access education in their own language and protect their culture through the democratic nation.”
Berxwedan stated that the struggle and the resistance will continue against the gang groups who want to prevent fraternity among peoples and the Northern Syrian peace.
