At around 6.20 am on Thursday, the Women's Defense Units (YPJ) carried out a retaliatory action against a base of Turkish-backed mercenaries near Kefifa near Ain Issa. Several rockets hit the base, killing at least five mercenaries. The YPJ said that the action was carried out in retaliation for the girls murdered by Turkish drones in Hesekê.
On 18 August, four girls were killed and eleven others injured in a Turkish drone attack on a volleyball match at a UN-sponsored education centre in Şemoka (Shamuqah), between Til Temir and Hesekê.
