On Tuesday evening, Turkish army attacked Qurne village in Afrin’s Bilbile district with heavy weaponry and warplanes. Gang groups that advanced into the village with the support of airstrikes were pushed out of the area after suffering losses at the hands of YPG-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The group “Tugaya Yekemîn El-Mexawîr” under the so-called Free Syrian Army (FSA) was able to enter the village following the bombardments of Turkish jets. The gangs broke the doors of houses to get in and plundered houses, stealing the jewellery in the homes.
Civilian Qasım Şêx Mihemed and his wife, who were trying to reach a safe area amid the attacks, were captured by the gangs and had their money and mobile phones confiscated. The gangs tried to abduct the civilians but their attempt was foiled by SDF fighters who reached the village afterwards and repelled the gangs.
