Syrian Kurdish Democratic Party Central Committee Member Gêlo Îsa spoke to ANHA about the recent efforts for reconciliation between the Turkish state and the Damascus government and its effects on the region.
The politician pointed out that the aim of the recent rapprochement between Ankara and Damascus is to destroy the Democratic Nation project which introduced self-government in North and East Syria. He called attention to the increasing attacks as part of the attempts to do so.
Îsa emphasized that the invading Turkish state is also trying to intervene in the Syrian regime. “Turkey is trying to bring some gangs close to the Muslim Brotherhood to power. Considering the fact that the Muslim Brotherhood has been declared a terrorist organization, this shouldn't happen,” he said.
According to Îsa, Turkish efforts to improve relations with the Damascus government stem from anti-Kurdish sentiment, and Turkey wants to use this occasion in domestic politics as well. “Elections are looming in Turkey. The government is hoping to regain confidence and votes. They claim to be seeking a solution to the Syrian crisis. In Turkey, on the other hand, they are saying that the Kurds cause all the trouble.”
Îsa said that Erdogan’s and his supporters’ invasion plans would fail, and they would be defeated in the elections. The politician added that the Syrian regime's opposition to the Autonomous Administration, which has a democratic nation project, would also fail.
