HRE announces the death of two fighters in a skirmish in Afrin

HRE fighters Egîd Efrîn and Zinar Tilqerah died in a skirmish with Turkish army proxy forces in Afrin on Friday.

Two fighters of the Afrin Liberation Forces (Hêzên Rizgariya Efrînê, HRE) were martyred in a skirmish on Friday. "Gangs linked to the Turkish state carried out an attack on our front in the Afrin region at six in the morning on 7 October. When our forces returned fire, a fierce battle took place. During the battle, there were dead and wounded on the side of the attackers, while the exact number could not be determined. Our companions Egîd Efrîn and Zinar Tilqerah died in the heroic battle," the HRE said in a statement on Saturday.

According to HRE, Egîd Efrîn (Mahsûm Begdaş) was born in Afrin’s Rajo district and fought against ISIS, al-Qaida and the Turkish army after the Rojava revolution. He played a role, in particular, in the liberation of Shehba in 2016 and in the resistance against the Turkish invasion of Afrin in 2018. Even after the occupation of Afrin, he took part in the frontline of the resistance and contributed significantly to the success of various actions against the occupying forces. "He was brave and ready to fight and within a short time he came to the battalion command. His responsibility to his people and the revolution increased daily and he participated in life and the struggle accordingly. At the same time, he remained a modest comrade who carried out his work without calculation and with great dedication. With this spirit, he fought until his last breath, inflicting great losses on the enemy and finally joining the caravan of martyrs," stated the HRE.

Zinar Tilqerah (Alaadîn Silêbî) was an Arab who "joined the ranks of the revolution" in 2016, according to the HRE statement, which continued, "He was convinced that Kurdish-Arab unity would help all oppressed peoples in the Middle East achieve freedom. Tilqerah embraced the project of a "Democratic Nation" put forward by Abdullah Öcalan and worked intensively for its practical implementation. First, he fought in the Jabhat al-Akrad federation against ISIS, then he took part in the Afrin resistance.”

The HRE vowed revenge and offered their condolences to the martyrs’ relatives and the people: "As HRE, we promise to realise the dream of our martyrs and our people of a free country.”
