On 12 September, the 40th anniversary of the military coup of 1980 in Turkey, the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) launched a new campaign and offensive, named "End isolation, fascism, occupation: Time to ensure Freedom“.
The Internationalist Commune of Rojava said in a statement: "We welcome and salute this initiative to be our perspective for this phase of the revolution and of our struggle. We, the Internationalist Commune of Rojava, declare our full support and participation in this campaign! For this reason we call upon internationalists around the world, anarchists, communists, socialists and democrats to unite for the goal of smashing fascism and all kinds of oppression and slavery."
The statement added: "On the one side, the revolution in Kurdistan has reached a level where every step and every event happening here has an important effect not only in the region but even worldwide. It is affecting us, in our locals, what we discuss, what we do, how we live, what we feel and what we want. This revolution is ours, we need to take responsibility for it and defend it internationally. On the other hand, fascism in Turkey has reached a point where it is not only a disaster for the people in Kurdistan and Turkey, but being a threat to all people that are struggling for a free life. Turkish fascism is the main threat to all woman in the region, to all free-minded youth, to all national and religious minorities in the region. Moreover, it is a threat to life to anybody that does not accept to be like the Turkish state and the regime of Erdoğan."
The International Commune called "on everybody to join the campaign and to participate in the actions organized. Besides this, everybody can take initiative and get active by themselves!"
