The international campaign “Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan and a political solution to the Kurdish question” began on 10 October 2023. Numerous events have already taken place around the world. On 27 November, political prisoners began a hunger strike in support of the campaign. The campaign is also taking place in Northern and Eastern Syria.

Ibrahim al-Ibrahim underlined that Abdullah Öcalan's philosophy has influenced millions of people, especially the peoples of the Middle East. About the ongoing campaign he said: “Very impressive actions and activities for the freedom of Mr. Öcalan are being carried out. The recent legal and health conference was particularly important. Around 300 lawyers took part in this conference organized by the representatives of the Autonomous Administration at the University of the Middle East. Important issues related to the solitary confinement used by the Turkish state on Mr. Öcalan and the democratic solution to the Kurdish question were discussed.”

Prisoners continue the hunger strike

Judge al-Ibrahim continued: “The most recent signature collection campaign has yielded very positive results. The number of signatures from lawyers from different parts of Syria, Northern and Eastern Syria, Damascus and Latakia reached 1025. These signatures will be delivered to Amnesty International. Thanks to the ideas and philosophy of Mr. Öcalan, the Autonomous Administration promoted peace and coexistence among the peoples after years of war and destruction. This revolution has once again proven to the whole world that Mr. Öcalan is the key to solving the crisis. The actions taken in many parts of the world for his freedom show how closely the peoples are connected to his thoughts and philosophy. The Turkish state and capitalist modernity wanted to prevent the spread of Mr. Öcalan's philosophy, but their efforts failed.”
