Kobane veterans call for the establishment of an international court to prosecute ISIS members

Veterans of the Kobanê resistance called for an international court for the prosecution of ISIS members, saying that an ISIS resurgence would threaten the whole world.

The international community and the International Coalition shrink away from the trial of ISIS members who remain detained in prisons in North and East Syria. Fighters who fought against ISIS in Kobanê and suffered injuries during the course of battle in 2014 and 2015 called for the establishment of an international court to prosecute ISIS members.

Speaking to ANHA, Ebdulqadir Remi pointed out that after the defeat of ISIS, its secret cells remained and these were reorganizing at the moment. He said: “It is not a remote possibility that they will take advantage of the attacks of the invading Turkish state and resurge.”

Remi added: “We hope that the international forces pay attention to this issue and not neglect the danger of an ISIS revival. We also expect them to support the Autonomous Administration, which bears the burden of all ISIS prisoners.”

‘The whole world will pay a price if ISIS mercenaries are reorganized’

War veteran Egîd Oso also warned that a resurgence of ISIS would threaten the whole world, especially the Middle East region, where those who embraced the ideas of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan defeated ISIS.

Oso emphasized that the whole world was indebted to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which provides a shield against terrorism. Oso warned that the whole world would pay a price if ISIS mercenaries were reorganized. He said: “The ISIS attack on Sinaa Prison in Hesekê's Xiwêran neighborhood was a message that the ISIS mercenaries were not finished yet and could revive soon. However, we are baffled that the international community remains silent about this threat.”

'An international court should be established'

Another veteran, Silêman Îbrahîm, stated that ISIS was fighting with a destructive mentality created by the invading Turkish state. He added: “We defeated them in Kobanê because our will is stronger than their dark ideas."

Ibrahim concluded: “ISIS was not defeated in Baxoz (Baghouz), but in Kobanê. This is why the invading Turkish state, which seeks to revive ISIS, feels disturbed. International powers should establish an international court and prosecute ISIS members seriously. If this does not happen, the mercenaries will return and commit further massacres.”

‘The world is turning a blind eye'

Ciwan Ehmed said: “The world, especially European countries, are turning a blind eye to the issue of ISIS' secret cells and think that they are far from this danger. However, this is wrong. Attacks in European cities, especially Paris, prove the threat of ISIS. Everyone should undertake responsibility on this issue.”
