Kongra Star Coordination paid tribute to the Syrian Future Party General Secretary Hevrîn Xelef, who was martyred on 12 October last year during the invasion attacks of the Turkish state, and Aqîde Ana [mother], a member of the Women's Justice Council, who was martyred in the bombardment of the convoy going to Serêkaniyê on 14 October.
Underlining that the invasion attacks launched by the Turkish state on 9 October 2019 in order to eliminate the Democratic Nation system are still continuing, Kongra Star said, “On the anniversary of the martyrdom of comrades Hevrîn and Aqide Ana, we commemorate all Serêkaniyê martyrs with respect. The resistance of revolutionary women will continue. The struggle for social justice and peace carried out by these women will always be alive, and the will continue to honour our women comrades who sacrificed their lives.”
The statement underlined that Hevrîn Xelef “has always struggled for the construction of a democratic and just society and for the common life of the peoples, Comrade Hevrîn carried out very valuable work for freedom. She fought for the freedom of her people. While she was continuing her duty with great determination, she fell martyr, murdered in a brutal way by the enemy.”
The statement also underlined that “these genocide attacks target women and women's organizations fighting for freedom. This was shown in the attack in which our comrades Emîne, Zehra and Hebûn were martyred in Kobanê. These attacks will never break our morale and determination and will increase our insistence on the struggle for resistance and freedom. The fire of the freedom revolution will always burn and will never go out.”
The statement called for resistance against the occupation attacks: "All women's organizations in the world should react against the genocide attacks such those in which Hevrîn and Aqîde Mother were martyred. We condemn the silence of international institutions and organizations against the massacre attacks and emphasize that silence means being partner in the massacre. The crimes committed by the Turkish state should be exposed and Turkey should be held accountable for them. Justice should be ensured.”
