Kongreya Star stages "Long March" in Shehba

The umbrella organization of the women's movement in northeast Syria, Kongreya Star participates with a long march through Shehba in the KCK campaign "Stop isolation, fascism and occupation - time for freedom".

With a "long march" through the North Syrian Shehba region, the Kurdish women's movement Kongreya Star expresses its support for the campaign "Stop Isolation, Fascism and Occupation - Time for Freedom" launched by the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) on September 12. The demonstration started Saturday afternoon in the Ehres district of the canton between Afrin and Aleppo and is scheduled to last three days. The stations of the 25-kilometer-long route are Fafîn and Til Şeir. Hundreds of activists from the entire autonomous region, wearing T-shirts and flags with the likeness of Abdullah Ocalan, are taking part in the march.

Hesaa Hesen from the Afrin Coordination of Kongreya Star explained that the goal of the action is to draw attention to the situation in northeast Syria and Kurdistan and to the situation of Ocalan. "Rêber Apo [Leader Ocalan] as the most important political representative of the Kurds is committed to the freedom of all oppressed and peoples. Therefore he is isolated from the outside world. We want to break through the isolation. Our resistance is directed equally against the occupation of the Turkish state in our regions."

The PKK founder and mastermind of the Kurdish liberation movement, Abdullah Ocalan, was deported from Kenya to Turkey more than two decades ago in a coordinated action involving many states and secret services. Kurdish society calls this phase the "international conspiracy". Since his hostage-taking, Öcalan has been kept in isolation on the Turkish prison island of Imrali in the Sea of Marmara, under an unprecedented detention regime aimed at physical and mental extermination. This torture, which has lasted for many years, is aggravated by further restrictions on the conditions of imprisonment.

The campaign launched by the KCK in September is directed against the regime in Turkey and is being conducted worldwide in diplomatic, political, social and military spheres. It includes almost all organizations that feel part of the Kurdish freedom movement. Numerous international organizations and democratic forces have also joined the campaign.
