A glorious ceremony was held in Serêkaniyê to bid farewell to Marxist Leninist Communist Party (MLKP) representative for Rojava, Bayram Namaz (Baran Serhat), who was martyred as a result of the explosion of a bomb that was placed in his car on Hesekê- Serekaniye road on March 23.

Hundreds of people including representatives of TKP ML/TİKKO, DKP/Birlik, DKB/BÖG and SYPG joined the funeral procession after the body of Namaz was taken from the Roj Hospital in Serekaniye. The crowd chanted slogans and sang the songs written by Namaz himself.

Body of the MLKP Commander was then taken to the Serekaniye Cemetery where a military ceremony was held by YPG-YPJ, SDF fighters and his internationalist comrades.

Speeches were held afterwards by Heseke Martyrs’ Families Council member Mihemed Xetîb, MLKP member Viyan İsyan, YPG commander Alişer Deniz, TKP ML/TİKKO commander Cemil Amed, DKP/Birlik member Ceren Güneş, DKB/BÖG member Tufan Keleş, Assyrian Xabur Guards Council commander Madlên Xemîs, Assyrian Martyrs’ Families Council member Cemîla Kako and SYPG member Muhamed Muhammed Qasem.

Speakers offered their condolences to the family and comrades of Baran Serhat and vowed to claim his struggle and legacy.

Speeches were followed by the messages sent by Baran’s family and condolence messages, after which poems written by him were read.

Namaz was then laid to rest to the accompaniment of slogans.
