The Syrian Democratic Council (MSD) released a statement on the attacks carried out by the occupying Turkish state against Northern Syria.
In the statement condemning the attacks, the MSD emphasized that the Turkish state's attacks actually prevented the fight against DAESH (ISIS).
The statement said: “The occupying Turkish army attacked two villages west of Kobanê on 27 October 2018, without reason nor cause. The Turkish state is attacking the safe areas of Northern Syria at a time when it is under pressure on the issue of Idlib. This attacks also occurred at a time when the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are close to liberating Deir ez-Zor from the last DAESH mercenaries. With these attacks Turkey has demonstrated once again its support for the DAESH mercenaries”.
The statement continued: “Turkey's policy to create confusion and deepen the crisis in Syria are causing people deep pain. Turkey refrained from battle with regime forces during the seven years of conflict while offering unlimited support to DAESH and jihadist groups like Al-Nusra. Turkey has supported and opened its borders to mercenaries in order to achieve its interests and destroy the democratic project that existed in Northern Syria”.
The MSD added: “During the 7 years of the Syrian conflict, we have always fought for the prospects of change as we have always respected the sensitivities of the Syrian people. We did not mix with the international and regional games and plans and did not lean on any neighboring country. Even during the occupation attacks against Afrin, we supported the resistance and the defense of the region”.
The statement ended: “We condemn the attacks of the occupying Turkish state against Northern Syria and call upon the United Nations and the International Coalition to fulfill their responsibilities and stand against the attacks of the Turkish state. These attacks actually prevent the struggle against DAESH and actually help the mercenaries to gain breath in Syrian once again. We call on the Syrian regime not to remain silent against the attacks of the Turkish state and to take measures under international law”.
