The Turkish army, with its jihadist auxiliary troops, carries out artillery attacks on villages in Afrin. Affected are the villages Malikiyê, Meranazê, Irşadiyê, Tatmeraş and the surroundings of Shiwarxa in Shera district and Aqibê, Soxanekê, Bêne Xiribkê and Dircmelê in Sherewa district.
Afrin was occupied by Turkey in spring 2018. What was once the most peaceful region of Syria has become a gathering place for jihadists since. Especially the eastern districts of Shera and Sherawa are exposed to almost daily attacks. The Turkish state wants to expand its occupation zone and eradicate the resistance to the invasion.
