For about two weeks now, heavy artillery attacks by occupation forces have been taking place on the town of Erîma, located east of al-Bab. As many as 150 artillery strikes have been counted since October 20. On Tuesday, the villages of Qirtwêran and Kor Hedok were placed under heavy fire. The affected villages are all located in the Erîma area which also houses the largest Russian military bases. The attacks are the most violent since the deployment of Russian and Syrian troops along the border line. In the Erîma town, a massacre of the civilian population had occurred on July 28. Six civilians were killed by Turkish artillery shells and many others were injured.
Ali al-Yusif, one of the commanders of the military council of al-Bab, reported that this time the invading forces did not limit themselves to artillery fire but tried to occupy villages. However, this was prevented by the military council.
The people of the region live in fear and terror. Because of the shelling, it is practically impossible to move around in the region. The inhabitants are also afraid of a Turkish invasion and therefore dare to speak only anonymously.
The Autonomous Administration and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) appeal to Russia and the USA to fulfill their guarantee obligation and to get Turkey to stop the attacks.
