Fighters-to-be who want to join the SDF ranks are trained in four academies in Rojava and Northern Syria. The training includes defense, battle methods, civilian-fighter relationships and many other topics.
One of the candidates in training in Martyr Eziz Erep Academy is Ebû Bekir Sedîk Xelef, a sophomore in civil engineering in Hesekê.
Xelef left university in his second year to join the SDF and is currently in training in the Martyr Eziz Ereb Academy.
“I believe in the idea that approaches all with respect, whether civilian or fighter, and values them, that’s why I joined. As a young man I feel close to the SDF,” said Xelef. The Academy has close to two thousand graduates.
Hemze Cûdî from Gelta village of Raqqa participated in the liberation of his village, and now is in training in the Martyr Eziz Ereb Academy.
Cudî said they won’t allow ISIS or any other force to trample their honor anymore.
The training lasts for one month. Most of the trainees are Raqqan Arabs.
The Academy trains SDF and Coalition forces. One of the instructors, Hawar Cûdî, said they focus on self defense and defending comrades, battle types and ethics. Cûdî also stated that in the curriculum, they talk about the relationship between fighters and civilians, the fighters’ approach to the people’s values and the universal standards for battle.
There are four military academies currently training military forces in Rojava and Northern Syria. In the academies, SDF and Coalition forces train fighters with the goal to defend Rojavan and Northern Syrian territory and clear ISIS gangs.
