The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria has sharply criticized the German government's support for Turkey in building accommodation in the occupied territories.
The German government is considering financial aid for Turkey for the construction of refugee accommodation for refugees in northern Syria. Chancellor Merkel promised this to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during her visit to Turkey last week.
The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria has sharply criticised the German government's support for the Turkish occupation of the region. The written statement recalled that the Turkish state is continuing its attacks, using a so-called "security zone" and refugees as a pretext to destroy the diverse society of North and East Syria.
"Turkey is trying to create another crisis in the region. And unfortunately, Turkey is supported in this policy by Germany and several other states who declared to help in the construction of the infrastructure for an area for refugees", the statement of the Autonomous Administration said and warned that Turkey's plans pose a threat to the entire region and that instead of help, international protest against Turkish expansionism is needed.
"As the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, we strongly condemn Germany's attitude of supporting this dangerous policy of Turkey. Germany is thus failing to live up to the responsibility it has assumed in the region. Turkey is using refugees as a means of blackmailing the EU. But these states should not remain silent in the face of the crimes of the Turkish state.”
At the end of the statement, the autonomous administration appealed to Germany to refrain from supporting the policies of the Erdoğan regime.
