School year begins in North East Syria for over 800,000 students

Receb al-Muşrif, co-chair of the Autonomous Administration Education and Training Committee, said that they took every precaution to protect students from the coronavirus during the new academic year.

Receb al-Muşrif, co-chair of the Northern and Eastern Syria Autonomous Administration Education Committee, gave information about the preparations for the new academic year.

Muşrif stated that the number of students reached 822,000 in the 2020-2021 academic year and that this number is expected to increase even further.

He confirmed that the students will start their classes at the 4,092 schools of the region, and added that the schools are prepared to face the new year in the best way. Stating that the restoration of the damaged schools continues, Muşrif added that 38, 228 teachers are ready for the academic year.

     

Al- Muşrif said that they opened the year despite the coronavirus pandemic, and underlined that they took all measures in schools with the help of the Health Committee. Noting that they reduced the number of students in the classrooms, Muşrif stated that families also have a big role to play in the new system.

He said that families also have a great responsibility to pay attention to the personal hygiene of the students, and added that the committees in each region will follow the situation of the students. Stating that the news that the Autonomous Administration has stopped the preparation of the course materials are not true, Muşrif said: “We use the course materials created by the Autonomous Administration in Cizre and Fırat regions. In other regions, education will be given according to the materials prepared by UNESCO.”
