SDF Commander Ronî Welat laid to rest

SDF Commander Ronî Welat, who was martyred in Deir ez-Zor, was laid to rest at Martyr Delîl Saroxan Cemetery of Martyrs.

Martyr Ronî Welat (Şêrewan Hesen), a member of SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) General Command and Deir ez-Zor Military Council Command, was laid to rest in Martyr Delîl Saroxan Cemetery of Martyrs on Friday.

The ceremony was attended by thousands of people, including members of civil society organizations, military and security councils, opinion leaders of Kurdish and Arab tribes, representatives of political parties, opinion leaders of tribes in Deir ez-Zor, representatives of Deir ez-Zor Civil Council, Deir ez-Zor Military Council and the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).


Speaking at the ceremony at the cemetery, Mahsûm Hesen, Co-Chair of the Assembly of Martyrs' Families in Qamishlo Canton, expressed his condolences to Martyr Ronî’s family and the people of North and East Syria.

Drawing attention to the struggle of the fallen commander, Hesen stated that martyr Ronî was the backbone of the revolution of the brotherhood of peoples for the establishment of democratic Syria. Hesen continued: "The enemy targeted Commander Ronî in order to weaken our will and instigate a discrimination between the components, but we say once again that we are united, and we will continue his struggle until we establish a free and democratic country. The flag of resistance will always fly."

SDF Commander and YPG (People’s Defense Units) Spokesperson Nûrî Mehmûd emphasized Martyr Ronî's revolutionary personality and said, "He was an example of patriotism, morality and cultural spirit. He left behind a great legacy in the establishment of the military forces of the Autonomous Administration."

Emphasizing that Martyr Ronî's martyrdom increased their insistence and struggle against the enemy's policies, Mehmûd said, "The enemy wanted to kill the revolutionary spirit of the people in the region by targeting Martyr Ronî, but his martyrdom increases our insistence on standing against the enemy's policies. The reality of the special war and the policies carried out through agents and collaborators must be understood. We must keep the personality and characteristics of Martyr Ronî alive in our lives. As SDF, we promise that we will follow the martyrs. We will increase the struggle until we achieve victory and avenge the martyrs.”

Speaking at the ceremony, Mihemed Receb, Co-Chairman of the Civil Assembly of Deir ez-Zor, said that the unity of the components in the region frustrated all conspiracies against the democratic nation project. Receb called for protecting the gains of the martyrs and strengthening the unity between the peoples.

While martyr Ronî Welat's martyrdom certificate was read and handed over to his family, his uncle, Silêman Îsa, reiterated his promise to follow in the footsteps of martyrs.

At the end of the ceremony, Martyr Ronî Welat was laid to rest amidst the chants of "Martyrs are Immortal".
