The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) fighters defending the dam and its vicinity on the Tishrin front told ANF how they have resisted the attacks carried out by the occupying Turkish state together with the Syrian National Army (SNA) mercenaries.
Baran, one of the SDF fighters, said: “We have taken our place in the resistance here. First, there were very violent attacks by the occupying, fascist Turkish state on the villages on the front lines. In the opposite villages, they were mobilized and gathered in the first days. The mercenaries mobilised to the accompaniment of intense reconnaissance of the Turkish state and drones. We had already made preparations in the form of both tunnels and mobile teams outside. With these tactics, we defended both the dam and this line. They were attacking with heavy weapons, drones and banned weapons. They were also trying to get in through infiltrations. But we did not allow them to come to our positions. There were very intense attacks, especially with suicide drones. You can already see the traces of it when you look inside. Historic resistance developed here. All the comrades resisted with great sacrifice. We did not allow the enemy to advance. You can also see the other side of the water. Contrary to the lies of the occupying Turkish state, look, we are here. We will continue to stay here with great morale and enthusiasm.”
Another fighter, Bêrîtan Rüstem, said, “The comrades have resisted here with great morale and enthusiasm. Our comrades and our people have great faith and trust in themselves in the resistance against the enemy.”
