SOHR reported that Turkish-backed armed factions conducted military exercises under the supervision of Turkish soldiers in Ain Issa countryside near frontlines with the regime and the SDF.
The factions used live ammunition in military exercises, targeting abandoned huts, the owners of which were displaced following the “Peace Spring” operation a few years ago.
This came one day after the extensive shelling on Zirgan and Til Temir countryside that lasted for 72 hours, and left casualties.
On July 3, SOHR reported that the Turkish forces and their proxies conducted military exercises in Al-Araziyah village in eastern Serekaniye countryside in the “Peace Spring” area opposite to Zirgan town north-western of Heseke.
According to the observatory, Turkish forces used machineguns and artillery weapons targeting abandoned huts as targets, and six huts were destroyed.
This came in light of the propaganda and intimidation by Turkish media agencies about a Turkish military operation on SDF-held areas in northern and north-eastern Syria.
On June 18, SOHR reported that Turkish-backed factions, in the presence of Turkish officers, had been conducting live-fire exercises in the eastern Serekaniye countryside in Heseke countryside in “Peace Spring” area near the frontlines with areas controlled by SDF and regime forces west of Zirgan.
These military exercises came as part of Turkey’s escalation and the imminent military operation in areas controlled by SDF, SOHR noted.
