Syrian Dialogue Workshop enters second day

The Syrian Dialogue Workshop, led by the Syrian Democratic Council (MSD) saw a fruitful and intense day on Wednesday.

The Syrian Dialogue Workshop, organized under the slogan “Let's reconstruct and develop Syria”, is continuing on its second day.

The first day of work has seen various sessions discussed. Highlights of the session titled “The most appropriate projects for the economy and the future of Syria” were speeches delivered by Ziyad Wetfê, member of the Delegation for Democratic Change (Heyet El-Tensîq) and Ehmed Yûsif from the economics department.

Ziyad Wetfê said that Syria was established after Sykes Picot Agreement devised by the sovereign states in the interests of the sovereign states. “There are many people and beliefs in Syria”, he said adding that “the democratic national process of the peoples of Syria has been set in motion”.

Ziyad Wetfê emphasized the importance of redesigning agriculture and business areas in the region and added the importance of providing the necessary safety conditions for the development of comprehensive economic projects in Northern and Eastern Syria.

Ending his remarks Wetfê said that central governments are unaware of the special circumstances of the geography of these areas and therefore are inadequate in economic management.

Ehmed Yûsif gave examples of economic policies carried out by central and local governments around the world. Yûsif said that the economic project implemented in Northern and Eastern Syria were unique and found no similar example in the world.

Yûsif said that of course, being new, the model implemented in these areas encountered some obstacles but stressed that the economic system in the region should be developed in the interest of all people and beliefs.
