The Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) made a statement regarding the attack carried out by the KDP and the Turkish army against guerrillas in Xelîfan.

The statement said: “As predicted, KDP forces attacked the guerrillas alongside the invading Turkish army. The KDP openly and directly supports the invading Turkish army with all its material and psychological means. It organizes spy networks in order to facilitate the Turkish state's military shipments and to break the connection between the guerrilla teams. At the same time, it prevents the guerrillas' resistance and helps the Turkish army supported by NATO. Despite all this, the invading Turkish army could not get any results and was defeated in the Metîna regions.

After the long-term activities by the KDP forces in the Medya Defense Areas, the Turkish army set up an ambush against the guerrillas in Xelîfan which resulted in the death of a number of guerrillas. With this action, the KDP declared its betrayal against the resistance of the revolutionary guerrillas and the will of the Kurdish people. Likewise, it jeopardizes the gains that our people have made as a result of great sacrifices throughout history.”

The statement continued: “The KDP sells all values to serve the greatest enemy of the people of Kurdistan. Although this party promised that it wouldn’t allow the shedding of Kurdish blood, it did not keep its promise and declared that it was loyal to the Turkish state.

The state of the political scene and the security crisis in Iraq paved the way for the invading Turkish state to intervene in Kurdistan.

As TEV-DEM, we call on all political and national forces, civil society organisations, intellectuals, journalists, artists, our free peshmerga brothers, women's and youth organizations to be vigilant against the policies and plans of the KDP, which has committed historical crimes with the support of the invading Turkish army. This crime poses a danger to all political and national forces in Kurdistan.

On the other hand, we call on all peoples to revolt against the invading Turkish state, support the guerrilla's resistance and unite around it."
