Since the beginning of 2021, the invading Turkish state has been restricting the flow of water from the Euphrates to Syria. This issue has a direct impact on the region. The invaders, who have also shut down the Alouk water station, are intending to cause a humanitarian crisis in the region.
‘THE TURKISH STATE IS FIGHTING AGAINST THE KURDS IN EVERY WAY'
Assessing the situation for ANHA, Vice-Chairman of the Euphrates Region Executive Council Nihad Ehmed stated that the Turkish regime has used every means possible to destroy the Kurdish people.
Nihad Ehmed pointed out that Turkey is attempting to avenge the defeat of ISIS with the July 19 Revolution; “Turkey launched its invasion of Syrian territory to fulfil what ISIS had failed to do. Turkey is currently using special warfare measures to break the Kurdish people's will.”
Ehmed remarked that restricting the flow of water from the Euphrates River to Syria and shutting down the Alouk water station serve the same aim, adding, "Despite international law, the Turkish state is doing these things. Because it is unable to undermine the Autonomous Administration project, it resorts to a variety of vicious means and techniques. He believes that by cutting off the water supply, the Autonomous Administration will weaken, and the people will rebel against it.”
Nihad Ehmed added that the people of the region are well aware of the policy and that no attack will be able to shatter their resolve.
Ehmed went on to say that the international public opinion's silence on the crimes perpetrated emboldened the Turkish state and that the international community will also be responsible for a humanitarian disaster that the peoples of Northern and Eastern Syria will face.
