University of Kobanê to open 7 new departments

As a result of consultations with the Autonomous Administration institutions in the Euphrates region, the Kobanê University administration decided to open 7 new departments.

The Kobanê University administration has recently announced that it is preparing to open new faculties. As a result of the consultations with the Autonomous Administration institutions in the Euphrates region, it was decided to open 7 new departments.

In this context, a 4-year Arabic Literature department will be opened within the Faculty of Letters, a 2-year geography department and a geography teaching department and English Literature departments will be opened in the Academy of Educational Sciences. In addition to the Academy of Administrative and Economic Sciences, Electricity and Machinery departments will be opened in the Faculty of Engineering.

There will be an expansion in the Faculty of Medicine too, where the curriculum of the students studying in the nursing department will be widened.

Şervan Muslim, member of the Executive Board of the University, told ANHA: “We felt the need to open 7 new departments in order to train the academic staff that will be needed in the future. Students who will graduate from these departments will play an important role in shaping the future of the region. Clearly, the increasing number of students affected our decision. These decisions were taken jointly with all the institutions dealing with education in the city.”

Muslim continued: “The students also needed a new department. In this way, we have provided students with more options. Our previous calls for academic staff were also answered, and many teachers were brought to the level of teaching at an academic level. In other words, we will not experience a shortage of teachers in the departments. We can say that the efforts of those who tried to make Kobanê University fail were in vain. Today, Kobanê University continues to prove itself by growing and developing.”
