The YPJ General Command commemorated fighter Arîn Mîrkan, who carried out a sacrificial action on 5 October 2014 during the invasion attacks of ISIS mercenaries backed by the Turkish state against Kobanê.

The YPJ said: "Comrade Arîn has become a road map for defending land and homeland for women and for all peoples."

The YPJ continued: "Comrade Arîn Mîrkan took the greatest revenge on Erdoğan and his gangs, which had carried out a policy of aggression, massacre, annihilation and denial for years. "Comrade Arîn awakened the conscience of humanity with her action inspiring hundreds of people from all over the world to join the ranks of the pro-freedom YPJ and YPG.”

The YPJ welcomed the initiative to "ensure freedom" and stated that they will defend the initiative for the freedom of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan against isolation, fascism and occupation in the footsteps of Arîn Mîrkan.
