On July 24, youth organizations in Rojava and Northern Syria started an action at Semelka Border Crossing to protest Turkey’s attacks on Southern Kurdistan, cross the border to join the Human Shields action in Qandil and show solidarity with the people of Southern Kurdistan.
The young people, who were traditionally prevented from crossing the border by KDP security forces, continue their action at Semelka.
Kongreya Star and PYD (Democratic Union Party) delegations visited the action tent to express their support to the protest demonstration carried out by the youth.
Kongreya Star member Fatima Sileman underlined that the KDP (Kurdistan Democratic Party) did not allow young people to cross the border over to South Kurdistan and condemned the attacks of the invading Turkish state against the Kurdish people.
PYD member Raxide Ehmed said that since the beginning of the Rojava Revolution, the KDP has tried to put obstacles in front of the revolution. The PYD member said that the KDP had prevented young people from crossing the border to support the actions carried out there against the Turkish invasion.
Saliha Ebu Zeyd, spokesperson of the Young Women's Union, said that they would continue the “Seri Hilde” (Rise Up) campaign until their aims are fulfilled.
"We are educated - she said - at the schools of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and we will not bow to the invaders. We will not stop struggling".
In the action tent, a short play was performed describing the young women in revolution.
