A conference titled 'Chains of Silence: Breaking Down the Walls Surrounding Women Political Prisoners' will take place in Amed today and tomorrow.
Tevgera Jinên Azad (TJA) will organize a two-day conference in Amed, today and tomorrow, titled "Chain of Silence: Breaking Down the Walls Around Women Political Prisoners".
The conference will start with the opening speech by Martina Anderson, former Sinn Féin member of the European Parliament, and will be attended by many women from around the world.
The experiences of female political prisoners will be discussed
In a written statement, TJA stated that the conference aimed to bring on the agenda the human rights violations suffered by female political prisoners from Turkey and various parts of the world.
The statement said: “This important event aims to share the experiences, struggles and resistance of female political prisoners at international and local levels. It plans to discuss effective advocacy strategies and methods in different fields such as the media, art and law. Our conference, which will gain an international dimension with the contributions of panelists from the Philippines, Palestine, Colombia, Basque Country, Catalonia, Iran and South Kurdistan, will include former political prisoners, academics, lawyers, journalists, politicians, human rights activists, international representatives, non-governmental organizations. It will bring together cultural and artistic communities and provide an environment that will enable the issue to be addressed in all aspects."
