For all the Êzîdî women…

A second unit of the Shengal Women's Units (YJŞ) arrived at the third anniversary of the genocide in Raqqa, the stronghold of ISIS, to avenge their people and women victimized by the gangs.

A second unit of the Shengal Women's Units (YJŞ), the first all-female military force of Shengal, arrived at the third anniversary of the genocide in Raqqa, the stronghold of ISIS. Bêrîtan Êzîdxan and Dersim Êzîdxan of this YJŞ unit said: "We will avenge all the Êzîdî women".

One of the YJŞ fighters from this unit, Bêrîtan Êzîdxan said that it is of great meaning that they have come to Raqqa on a day like this and said: "After we liberated Shengal, we vowed that we as the YJŞ will free all the captive women enslaved by ISIS. Our presence in Raqqa is the vital artery that leads to our goal. To be here on the day of the genocide anniversary, to be standing in this emplacement, means to me the fulfilment of my dreams of taking revenge."

Dersim Êzîdxan is another fighter of the YJŞ unit who witnessed the genocide at very close range. Putting her feelings into following words, she said: "On the 3rd August the genocide was launched. One day later, on the 4th August I arrived in Shengal. When I first came to Shengal it was like a totally dispirited city that had abandoned all hope. What I saw there, will I never forget. The total hopelessness, that was mirrored visibly in their dull eyes when I distributed bread and water to them, has now given away to a tremendous force and great hope. At the time of the genocide I vowed to take revenge for all our people that were killed and for all our women, at all costs. Having come now to Raqqa three years after the genocide, is for me the realisation of the promise I gave."
