The KJK paid tribute to Argentinian activist Celeste Lepratti.

Kurdistan Women's Community Coordination (KJK) issued a condolence message for Argentinian activist Celeste Lepratti.

The message said: "We are deeply saddened by the untimely loss of our dear friend Celeste Lepratti as a result of an incurable illness, and we express our condolences to her family and all her friends in the struggle.

Celestre Lepratti was an important activist in the struggle for women's rights as well as in the struggle for human rights and justice."

The statement added: "Celeste Lepratti's brother was among the 38 activists killed by the police during the uprising for social rights and freedom, which went down in history as Black December in 2001. Celeste has faced the oppression, violence and exploitation of the state by paying a heavy price and has fought against injustice on many fronts until her last breath, without dropping her brother's flag of struggle since then."

'Actively participated in actions for Kurdish people'

The statement underlined that Lepratti "participated in local government work as a member of the Rosario City Council. She fought with the mothers of the Plazo de Mayo to find babies abducted during the dictatorship. She has participated in activities as a member of the solidarity committee with the Kurdistan Women's Movement, which she has been following closely since 2016.

In 2022, the Kurdish Freedom Movement and its people were exposed to the invasion attacks of the Turkish fascist state, and she took an active part in the actions in the city where she lived and stood against these unjust attacks."

Lepratti was among the callers in the campaign launched in Argentina against the chemical weapons used by the Turkish state against Kurdish freedom fighters.

The statement continued: "We owe the bond established between the Argentine and Kurdish people to women, above all. Martyr Legerin made a very important contribution. On this occasion, we would like to commemorate Martyr Legerin and express our gratitude. Celeste also contributed to this woven bond of friendship."
