Protests were held in many cities of Europe for Nagihan Akarsel, the Jineology Center Research member, who was murdered in front of her home in Sulaymaniyah on 4 October.

Protests were held in many cities of Europe for Nagihan Akarsel, the Jineology Center Research member, who was murdered in front of her home in Sulaymaniyah on 4 October and for Jina Amini, who was killed by the "morality" police in Iran for not wearing the hijab "properly".

BREMEN

A rally was held in front of the old parliament building in Bremen. Posters of Nagihan Akarsel and Jina Amini, who was killed by the "morality" police in Tehran, were carried at the rally led by the Bremen Sevê Women's Assembly.

Candles were lit and a sit-in was held at the rally, where the slogan "Jin jiyan azadi" was often shouted.

In her speech, Münevver Azizoğlu Bazan, co-spokesperson of the Sevê Women's Council, said: "With a vile assassination, they took our friend Nagihan from us. However, Nagihan's ideas are spreading all over the world with the slogan 'jin jiyan azadi' today."

BERLIN

Thousands of women from Kurdistan, Turkey and internationalists came together at the protest organised in Berlin by the Dest Dan Women's Assembly.

The action started with a moment of silence for all martyrs of the revolution in the person of Nagihan Akarsel.

The statement made on behalf of the Dest Dan Women's Assembly said: "We condemn the attack on Kurdish women in the person of Nagihan Akarsel, a member of the Jineology Research Center, and Jina Amini."

ZURICH

A protest was held at the central train station in Zurich. The action led by young women's organizations Teko-JIN and YJK-S started with a minute’s silence.

Swiss Democratic Kurdish Community Center co-chair Selma Sürer said that all women were targeted in the person of Nagihan Akarsel and added: "We Kurdish women will be the pioneers of women's resistance all over the world."
